Lawa z wulkanu Cumbre Vieja, który wybuchł na kanaryjskiej wyspie La Palma, dotarła po dziewięciu dniach do Oceanu Atlantyckiego. Nad wybrzeżem wyspy unosi się gęsta, ciemna chmura – podaje agencja Reutera powołując się na naocznych świadków.
Rozżarzona czerwona lawa wciąż napływa na brzeg morski.
Od niedzieli z wulkanu Cumbre Vieja wyemitowanych zostało 46,3 mln m sześciennych, czyli o 3 mln m sześciennych popiołów więcej niż podczas ostatniej eksplozji wulkanu w 1971 r.
Kanaryjscy wulkanolodzy odnotowali, że od poniedziałkowego popołudnia erupcja stała się nietypowa, gdyż wulkan emituje fale grawitacyjne.
Szacuje się, że do wtorkowego popołudnia lawa zniszczyła już na La Palmie około 260 hektarów oraz blisko 700 budynków.(PAP)
