15,000 Participants Attended the Hunger Walk

Motto: “No1ShouldGo Hungry”

CHICAGO: The 30th Annual Hunger Walk took place at Soldier Field on Saturday, June 20, 2015. 15,000 participants from all walks of life attended the event. The Hunger Walk was organized for the 30th time. It was a free event, with the possibility of making a donation.

Governor Bruce Rauner welcomed participants and supported this noble cause by attending it. Senators Mark Kirk and Richard Durbin and many others governmental leaders sent their video recordings supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository Annual event. This event took place a day before the Father’s Day.

It was really fun and inspirational Saturday morning.

In 2015 there was a 1K course, in addition to the usual 5K path.

“As we celebrate three decades of the Hunger Walk, this milestone event will be bigger and better than ever. The family-friendly 5K (3.1 mile) walk along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront includes live entertainment and activities for all ages”.

The event was organized by the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This agency and its dedicated staff and volunteers serve thousands of Chicagoans and Cook County residents for several decades. I’ve seen and worked with them for several years. They are really committed to the cause of helping Others.

Cook County has over 5 million residents. It is the second largest county in the Nation. It is estimated that close to 900,000 people living in Cook County face shortage of food.

The food needs are growing, even in the largest metropolitan areas like Chicago Area.

“The Hunger Walk has grown into one of the largest anti-hunger rallies in the nation. In 2014 ,there were more than 14,000 men, women and children walked with us to share their belief that no one should go hungry. As our response to hunger has grown stronger each year, the Hunger Walk is proof that every step and every voice makes a difference”.

This is a great and noble cause. Families, seniors, children need help.

The main motto of the Hunger Walk was “No1 Should Go Hungry”.
